Tourism at the Lipizzaner Stud

Not only is the Lipizzaner Stud Piber an international breeding establishment, it is also a modern tourist attraction and a successful events business.

Comprehensive renovation works and new infrastructure have turned Piber into an attractive and modern stud, an enchanting events venue and a popular tourist attraction. The creation of Piber Lipizzaner World in 2006 brought to life a destination that offers visitors an extensive and educational programme of activities, delighting not only horse enthusiasts but also families and their children. Numerous different areas allow visitors to experience the horses at close quarters, whilst also learning about their food, care accessories and tack. Thus the Lipizzaner Stud boasts not the charm of a museum, but rather the excitement of a journey of discovery. A carriage ride simulator, an interactive area and a live blacksmith are just some of the highlights on offer. Stud tours, guided tours, carriage rides, tours of the Stubalm and a chance to watch the training sessions in the riding hall give visitors the chance to marvel at this “imperial white horse” in all its facets. The Lipizzaner museum “Mythos Pferd” (Mythical Horse) offers in-depth information on all aspects of the horse and the Spanish Riding School. Children can romp about to their heart's content at the adventure playground or on the children's adventure trail, or watch a film about our stud at the children's cinema. A tour of our stud gives visitors the chance to see the foals with the mare herd, the retired stallions and the breeding studs, not to mention the Lipizzaners that are currently being trained, and much more. A truly entertaining insight into the legendary white horse.

Today, the Lipizzaner Stud Piber is an important breeding establishment to preserve the oldest pure-bred horses in Europe and the stars of the Spanish Riding School on one hand, and an attractive destination in Styria, the “home of the Lipizzaner”, on the other.
