Please note that the Spanish Riding School is located in a listed historic building without an elevator. All seats in the first gallery, the royal box, and the second gallery are accessible only via stairs. They are therefore not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please be sure to take this into account before making a booking.
Morning Exercise with Music:
The Morning Exercise is the public part of the horses’ and riders’ daily training, accompanied by classical music. It is not a fixed program, but the horses’ regular gymnastic training and schooling. You will see different exercises each day, tailored to the training schedule and the stallions’ condition on that particular day. Here you can gain an impression of the Morning Exercise.
Duration: approx. 60 minutes
Performance:
The performance presents the highlights of the High School of Classical Horsemanship and includes various programme points, such as fascinating choreographies and the famous “Schools above the ground.”
Duration: 45 or 70 minutes; Gala performances approx. 90 minutes
We recommend booking tickets as early as possible, as this gives you the widest choice of available price categories. With last-minute bookings, not all categories are often still available, or the desired date may already be sold out.
Visitor numbers in Vienna are particularly high around public and national holidays, and many guests wish to visit the Spanish Riding School. Due to the historical nature of the venue, the number of visitor places is limited. We therefore recommend booking or reserving well in advance, particularly for groups.
If you purchased your tickets directly through our website, you will receive a valid E-ticket that does not need to be exchanged. With this ticket, you can proceed directly to the entrance indicated on the ticket.
Tickets purchased through external providers such as GetYourGuide, Musement, or Tiqets must be collected at the ticket desk in the Visitor Center by presenting the ticket voucher.
Please note that, for organizational reasons, reservations cannot be accepted with the Vienna Pass.
Tickets for the Morning Exercise can be collected in advance during our opening hours upon presentation of the Vienna Pass (it must be scanned).
Attending the Morning Exercise on the same day is also possible without any problems if you collect your tickets by 09:15h at the ticket counter in the Visitor Center of the Spanish Riding School (Michaelerplatz 1, 1010 Vienna).
Online booking with the Vienna Pass is not possible.
The Spanish Riding School currently does not offer any combined tickets with other attractions in the Hofburg. In general, there is no single ticket that allows access to all areas of the Hofburg.
Children aged 3 to 6 years enter for free (lap seat). Children aged 6 to 12 years receive a reduced admission. For safety reasons, children under 3 years are not allowed to participate in any events at the Spanish Riding School.

Yes, however for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility, only a limited number of seats are available in the Winter Riding School due to the building’s structural conditions. These cannot be booked online and must be reserved in advance by writing us via office@srs.at. Please note: a reservation is only confirmed once the Spanish Riding School provides written confirmation. Due to heritage protection, there is no elevator, so the first and second galleries as well as the Hofloge are not wheelchair accessible.
Guided tours are accessible to all visitors.
Architectural tours are an exception: they are only suitable for visitors who are physically fit and steady on their feet. They are not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility. Due to the building’s heritage status, there is no elevator.

Children under 3 years are not allowed to attend any events at the Spanish Riding School for safety reasons. Strollers cannot be brought into the riding hall due to limited space.
Dogs are not allowed to visit the Spanish Riding School. Assistance and service dogs must be announced in advance at the ticket counter or by email to office@srs.at and must display the appropriate identification.
Arrival and Planning Your Visit
Everything you need to plan your visit and make the most of your time at the Spanish Riding School.
The Spanish Riding School is located in the heart of Vienna’s city center and is most conveniently reached by public transportation. The 1st district is a short-term parking zone throughout (Monday to Friday, 9:00h – 22:00h), and parking options are limited.
If you are arriving by car, the following parking garages are available nearby: Freyung, Neuer Markt, or Oper.
There are three possible entrances for Performances and the Morning Exercise: Michaelerkuppel, Reitschulgasse, and Josefsplatz. The entrance designated for you is indicated on your ticket. Please go directly to this entrance to ensure you arrive on time for your event.
The meeting point is in the foyer of the Visitor Center of the Spanish Riding School, Michaelerplatz 1, 1010 Vienna. Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the tour – your guide will pick you up there.

Useful information to help make your visit an unforgettable experience.
Yes, there is a souvenir shop in the main entrance area of the Spanish Riding School, located in the Visitor Center under the Michaelerkuppel. You can find the opening hours here.
In addition, there is a small souvenir kiosk at the rear entrance area at Josefsplatz, which is open on performance days.
Visitors are not allowed to pet, feed, kiss, or otherwise touch the horses.
This rule is in place to protect the horses’ health by preventing the transmission of viruses and bacteria, and also to ensure your safety.
Only selected riders who undergo many years of training at the Spanish Riding School are permitted to ride the horses. Riding lessons for visitors are not offered.
We recommend attending the Morning Exercise to gain an exciting insight into the training of rider and horse in classical equestrian art.
There are no cloakrooms or luggage storage facilities at the Spanish Riding School.
The Winter Riding School is a historic building and is not heated or air-conditioned. The indoor temperature therefore usually differs only slightly from the outside temperature. We recommend bringing coats or jackets.
The riding hall cannot be heated, nor can it be artificially cooled in summer.
There is a general ban on video, photo, and audio recordings at the Spanish Riding School.
An exception applies during Guided Tours: your guide will inform you when and where photography is permitted.
Currently, no public Wi-Fi is available.
