Combine a visit to the traditional Almabtrieb with an excursion to the Lipizzaner Stud Piber.
During a guided tour of the stud, discover how the “Young Wild Ones” continue their journey after spending the summer at altitudes of over 1,600 metres, and gain fascinating insights into their further development at the stud.

Lipizzaner Stud Piber
Arrival by public transportation:
From Vienna (approx. 4 hours)
Take the train from Wien Hauptbahnhof to Graz Hauptbahnhof. Then take a local GKB train from Graz to Köflach. Vom Bahnhof Köflach mit dem Bus 702 bis zur Station Piber Schloss, Piber Fesselweg oder Piber Hagen Knobelbergsiedlung.
However, please note: The 702 bus line only runs on weekdays. On weekends, taxis are available at the Köflach train station taxi rank.
From Graz (approx. 1 hour)
Take a local GKB train from Graz to Köflach. From Köflach railway station, take the Bus 702 to any of the following stops: Station Piber Schloss, Piber Fesselweg or Piber Hagen Knobelbergsiedlung.

Parking
At the foot of the hill of the Piber Castle and Stud Farm there are sufficient parking spaces for visitors and buses. Please take into account the 5-10 minute walk from the car park to the stud!
Visit with children
The stud farm is barrier-free, making it possible to visit with a baby carriage. There is also a changing table in the ladies' toilet in Piber Castle.
Visit with the four-legged friend
Dogs are welcome at the stud farm, whether it’s on an independent visit or on a guided tour!
However, please note: In the inner area of the stud farm, dogs must always be kept on a short lead. Dogs are not permitted at events held on stud grounds (e. g. the Spring Celebration) or on alpine pasture tours!
Parking
There is a disabled parking space at the top of the hill, to the left of the entrance to the inner stud farm area (turnstile), opposite the museum. Further wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are located in the visitor car park at the foot of Castle Hill.
Toilets
Disabled toilets are available at Piber Castle, in the treetop adventure course ticket shop and on the grounds of the Piber Arena.
Special offers for people with disabilities
The stud farm can be visited in a wheelchair. However, there are slight inclines and slopes, so we recommend a visit with a companion.
