UK TOUR OF THE SPANISH RIDING SCHOOL
October 2024
The stars of the Spanish Riding School will tour again and are preparing to enchant an international audience!
The famous Lipizzaner stallions and their riders will present six performances in the United Kingdom in October 2024: three performances each will take place in London and Aberdeen.
The team will kick off the tour on Friday, October 18th at the OVO Arena Wembley in London. Performances on Sat., 19th October and Sun., 20th October will follow here and offer the horse-loving English audience the opportunity to experience Classical Horsemanship at the highest level.
While London has already been the venue for the world-famous performances of the Spanish Riding School several times, the performances in Aberdeen are a special premiere:
The famous “Ballet of the White Stallions” will be performing in Scotland for the very first time in its 459-year history and will make its debut in Aberdeen on Friday, 25th October. Further performances at P&J Live take place on Sat., 26th October and Sun., 27th October.
The majestic performances by the Lipizzaners will be hosted by the nation’s much-loved radio and TV presenter Nicki Chapman (BBC Radio 2 and Escape to the Country). This cultural experience promises to provide a fantastic day out for not only horse lovers but also families and groups seeking world-class entertainment, full of choreography, music and wonder.
Extensive preparations for the tour are already in full swing to ensure ideal conditions for the noble stallions. In close cooperation with the organizers on site, the training possibilities up to the dress rehearsal, the program and the technical equipment in the halls adapted for the riding performances are coordinated.
A royal welcome and the best conditions for the world-famous grey horses are guaranteed at every station of their journey. On their travel from Vienna to London they are accompanied by stable master Andreas Haipl and their trusted grooms. The well-rehearsed team ensures the well-being of their protégés throughout the entire tour.
In London, the Lipizzaner stallions can expect well-equipped stables and everything a horse's heart desires – including, of course, the best feed for the four-legged high-performance athletes.
Eight riders and up to 26 horses for seven program points present the tour program. 36 transport boxes with around four tons of equipment will go on the journey, including white deerskin saddles, gold bridles, velvet saddle pads, the famous birch crops and the riders' traditional uniforms. In addition to the program items “All Steps and Movements of the High School”, the performance “On the Long Rein” and the famous school jumps Levade, Courbette and Kapriole, the riders also present the “Schoolquadrille”: A finely tuned choreography of eight stallions and their riders presenting the schools on the ground in absolute symmetry and harmony.
The UK audience will experience perfection and living history and tradition during the upcoming tour.
The school stallions and their riders will offer an unforgettable impression of their skills to an international audience and are looking forward to enchanting them.
