THE STUNNING WHITE STARS - THE LIPIZZANER of the Spanish Riding School Vienna are back

The autumn season starts with the well-known “Morning Training with music” September 8th.

After more than five months, Tuesday, September 8th, sees the start of the the Spanish Riding School  autumn season beginning with the famous Training Sessions and subsequent performances of the Classical Art of Riding in the magnificent baroque riding hall later in the month.

In compliance with all safety measures the “Morning Training with music" marks the beginning of the season followed by full performances on Sunday like in the past.

The Morning Training of the horses and their Riders include relaxation exercises, the refinement and perfection of lections (what are lections – lessons? as well as the targeted strengthening of the muscles. Each stallion group is exercised according to its level up to High School lections.

To keep both the Lipizzaner and Rider in form and motivated, the famous “Schools above the Ground” such as Courbette or Levade, that are presented during the performances also often form part of the exercises during the training sessions.

For the first time in its history the Spanish Riding School offers a new program every Tuesday evening at 18:30 pm: The “Evening Training with music"

“The public training in the morning is perfectly tailored to visitors who are on vacation in Vienna. With the new evening program, we want to address the guests who have no time during the day and want to spend an enjoyable, entertaining evening in the wonderful setting of the most beautiful riding hall in the world, ”says Managing Director Sonja Klima. "If the evening training works well, we will definitely extend the program from October over more evenings each week."

The “Morning Training with music” starts Tue., September 8th from 10:00 to 11.00 am and 11:30 to 12:30 am

Due to safety measures the number of visitors is limited to two time periods -

For the first training session, admission starts at 9:45 a.m. The duration of the training session is one hour, from 10:00 to 11:00. For the second training session, admission starts from 11:15 a.m. The duration of the training is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There is no free seating. Visitors can leave the training session at any time.

The length of stay is limited to one hour.


The first “Evening Training with music” will take place on Wed., September 9th from 7 to 8 pm.

For this reason, wearing a mask in all closed rooms, in the stables and in the shop is compulsory.

In the Riding Hall, where all events take place, visitors must wear a mask until they have taken their seat.
