The “ballet of the white stallions” dances again: The Spanish Riding School opens the performance season

  February 10, 2015

After the traditional winter break the Spanish Riding School makes a good start to the new performance season on Sunday, February 15, 2015. The riders together with their Lipizzaner stallions will show all the highlights of the High School of classical Horsemanship. Since January, they they have been preparing for the performances in the morning training.

The world-famous performances of the Lipizzaner stallions take place in the unique baroque Winter Riding School in the Imperial Palace of Vienna, which was built in the time when the Habsburg Archduke Charles VI ruled. The exercises of the High School of classical Horsemanship are the result of a long and intense training of both riders and horses. The young and agile stallions as well as the experienced fully trained stallions enchant the audience. The fully trained stallions show the school quadrille, the schools on and above the ground, the Pas de Deux and the work on the long rein presenting the whole range of their talents in a wonderful performance.

The Lipizzaner stallions can already be watched in their different training stages. This so called morning exercise takes place from Tuesday to Friday, 10.00 to 12.00 am and is accompanied by classical music.

For all those who want to glimpse behind the scenes of the Spanish Riding School, we offer a guided tour providing inside information. You can visit a guided tour on a daily basis at 2.00, 3.00 or 4.00 pm.
