2012/05/30 — New team of Riders on top of the Riding School
After almost 20 years as a Rider and another six years as Director of the Spanish Riding School, Ernst Bachinger will retire at the end of June. On the basis of the results of an assessment center run by an external personnel-consulting agency and one-to-one-interviews his fields of activity are undertaken by Chief Rider Wolfgang Eder, Chief Rider Andreas Hausberger and Rider Herwig Radnetter.

Am 1. Mai wurden Hannah Zeitlhofer und ihr Kollege Christopher Egger zu Bereiteranwärtern befördert. Damit hat erstmals in der 440-jährigen Geschichte der Spanischen Hofreitschule eine Frau den Sprung von der Elevin zur Bereiteranwärterin gemeistert.

Im Rahmen der heutigen Jahrespressekonferenz zogen Bundesminister DI Niki Berlakovich, Generaldirektorin Dkfm. Elisabeth Gürtler und Geschäftsführer Mag. Erwin Klissenbauer gemeinsam Bilanz und präsentierten die vorläufigen Zahlen des vergangenen Geschäftsjahres. Das Resümee: Die Spanische Hofreitschule blickt mit einem Jahresüberschuss von 30.000,- Euro auf das erfolgreichste Jahr ihrer Geschichte zurück.

2012/03/31 — Piber – Start of the season 2012
With a big festival the Federal Stud Piber will start the new season on March 31st. From that day on the stables will be open again daily from 9:30 to 17:00 hrs. The start of the season 2012 will be celebrated with a great supporting programme: Guided tours at a discount for children, the children’s experience path, and free carriage rides for children from 14:00 to 16:00 hrs promise an exciting day for he whole family.
2012/03/26 — Lipizzaner stallion from the Federal Stud in Piber winner of central Lipizzaner approval in France
At freezing temperatures at the end of February, 16 Lipizzaners were presented to the jury of the central Lipizzaner approval at the stud "Les Ecuries des Elfes Blancs" of Monsieur Jean-Claude Olivier in Réalville near Toulouse. Maestoso Beja II, born in the Federal Stud in Piber, and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Philip of the Lipizzaner stud „Haras des Launes“ near Aix-En-Provence in South-France was declared the winner. The Lipizzaner approval was hosted by the „Association Francaise du Lipizzan“, the official Lipizzaner breeding association in France.

2012/03/19 — Precious hoofs and precious tires
This year, the British 4x4-brand Land Rover is celebrating its 64th birthday and thus is almost 400 years younger than but as pedigreed as the Lipizzaner with its origin going back to the year 1580: Until today, Land Rover exclusively produces cross-country vehicles of highest quality. In 2012, Land Rover is still official fitter of the Federal Stud Piber which – due to long lasting excellent experience – garages a Land Rover Discovery 4 as company car once again.
2012/03/02 — Grand Master of the Order of Malta visited Federal Stud Piber
During his official stay in Austria, the Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Mr. Fra’ Matthew Festing, visited the Federal Stud Piber in the Weststyrian Köflach. After a breakfast with Bishop Egon Kapellari the delegation was taken by carriage from the visitor parking to the Castle and was welcomed by Managing Director Elisabeth Gürtler, Stud Manager Max Dobretsberger and Stud Master Harald Neukam.
2012/01/24 — First Foal of the Season 2012 born in Piber
Last Sunday, at 5:05 a.m., our first filly came into the world. The little foal with the qualities typical to its breed is healthy and doing fine. „The expected date of birth had been Friday 13th, but obviously the dam had been a bit superstitious. Finally, the little filly was born lucky last Sunday “, states Harald Neukam, Studmaster in Piber. „It was an uncomplicated birth. The mare called Alda originates from the mare family Capriola, the sire is Pluto Briosa II.“
2011/12/16 — The Lipizzaner stallions are back from their successful tour
After the 68th international tour of the Spanish Riding School the 28 Lipizzaner stallions and their eight riders have well arrived back in Vienna. The three-week journey from November 16 to December 4, has lead the White Ballet to Brussels, London and Basel. In total, 12 performances have been presented.

For one week bucket excevators instead of horses could be seen in the world’s most famous riding hall. For the first time in the 275 year old history of the Winter Riding School the ridingground was completely removed and replaced. Until now the sawdust-sand-mixture was only refilled.

In good spirits – despite changeable weather conditions – Federal Minister Niki Berlakovich and Lower Austria’ Governor, Erwin Pröll, opened the newly erected Riding Hall at Heldenberg together with the Directors of the Spanish Riding School and Heldenberg’s Mayor, Peter Steinbach. The new riding hall turns the Lipizzaners’ summer quarters into a state-of-the-art training centre.

„Groß ist unser Erbe. Groß ist unsere Vision. Und groß ist unsere Verantwortung.“ Mit diesen Worten hat Dkfm. Elisabeth Gürtler die heutige Pressekonferenz zur Vorstellung der ersten Fête Impériale eröffnet. Jene Dame, die jahrelang mit viel Fingerspitzengefühl den Wiener Opernball geleitet hat, bittet am 10. Juli 2010 erstmals zu einem Ball für die Lipizzaner in die wohl schönste Ball-Location Wiens.

2010/03/11 — The Haute Ecole of Classical Dressage – the key cultural heritage of the Spanish Riding School
For more than 430 years the knowledge and expertise on classical horsemanship have been handed down verbally from one generation of riders to next. Since July 9th, 2009 Austria is a member state of the UNESCO with regard to the Intangible Cultural Heritage and therefore an application to be included in this list stood to reason.

The expansion of the summer stable aims at providing new capacities for training more young Lipizzaner stallions in the Haute Ecole of Classical Dressage than has been possible so far.

This year the arrival of the young lads from Piber was delayed by a couple of weeks as two youngsters suffered from a colic on the first attempt on January 5th and therefore the journey had to be postponed. But now they’re all fit as fiddles!
